High and mighty and not afraid to own it

“She thinks she’s so high and mighty.”

“You don’t have to act so high and mighty.”

“What makes you think you’re so high and mighty?”…

The phrase “high and mighty” has such a bad rap. In our modern vernacular, it’s come to mean someone who thinks she’s better than everyone, someone arrogant, cocky and pompous.

I propose we fix that.

Think about it– the word high and the word mighty aren’t actually negative at all. But when we put those two words together, it becomes a phrase used in a negative ways.

Here are my favorite definitions of high…

high – /hī/

  1. of great vertical extent.
  2. great, or greater than normal, in quantity, size, or intensity.
  3. of large numerical or monetary value.
  4. very favorable.
  5. great in rank or status
  6. excited; euphoric.

And here’s what our friend Merriam-Webster says about the word “mighty” – /ˈmītē/

  1. possessing might
  2. powerful, accomplished or characterized by might
  3. great or imposing in size or extent
  4. extraordinary

I don’t know about you, but I WANT to be high and mighty!

I want to vibrate at a high frequency and be characterized by my strength and power.

When a woman steps into her high and mighty state, no one is diminished.

I think that’s why the term gets a bad rap- because people think one person being high and mighty will diminish the power of others. It doesn’t.

In fact, when a woman owns her high-and-mightiness, it can inspire those around her to do the same.

Marianne Williamson said it best…

“Your playing small does not serve the world.”

So, what would it take you to step into your high and mighty spot in the world? Not by diminishing the power of others, simply by claiming your own power.

What small choices can you make today to feel more high and mighty?
Let’s re-brand the term so that it no longer means something catty and negative, used in ways to knock someone off their high-horse or to label and judge people we think are “too full of themselves.”

High & mighty is yours for the taking! Own it. Your days of playing small are over. Right? OVER!

p.s. I got inspired to design a “High & Mighty” tank top, because why not?! Order yours here.
